Chisels

A chisel is a cutting tool that is used to make cuts where we cannot get a machine or we only need to make a round hole square. It is used to clean up loose ends so that we can achieve a better fit for two pieces of wood. You must be extremely careful with the chisels from the time you pick them up from the tool room because they are razor sharp. It is also important that you do not put too much pressure on the chisel, because it will slip off of the work piece. If this happens, your chances of getting injured increase greatly. In some instances we will be using direct pressure from our hands to chisel a piece of wood. At other times, we will be using a hammer or mallet to apply the force.
