Pliers 

Pliers are designed to hold objects. They increase the force of your hand by using a pivot point to act as a simple lever. Pliers are not meant to turn nuts, bolts or screws. The pliers below, from left to right are: needle nose pliers, which are used to hold small objects; slip-joint pliers, which are general purpose pliers because the slip joint allows them to be adjusted to hold various sized objects; lineman's pliers, which are used to hold and cut wire; and channel locking pliers, which are pliers that can exert a great amount of force because of their long handles and varying leverage points.
