The Level

  • The Level

The level is used to make sure something is situated perfectly flat or straight up and down. The level does this by using an air bubble trapped in a small glass tube. The glass tube has two stripes or lines marked on it.  These lines are equally spaced from the ends of the glass tube. The object is to get the air bubble to line up evenly between the two lines. In the picture below you will see a Carpenter's Level, which is gray in color, and a Torpedo Level which is orange in color.  Torpedo Levels are used when you need to check a level in a tight space or when you are checking for level of a small area.

Name a reason why we would use a level in this class. (Be specific to our projects.)
