      Academic Booster Club Website!



    The Academic Booster Club (ABC) is now accepting applications for the 2017-2018 school year!
    The school year will be divided as follows for the applications:

    Spring/Summer 2017    
    4th quarter grades from previous school year/service hours April through September 2017

    Fall 2017
    1st quarter grades/service hours June through October 2017

    Winter 2017/2018    
    2nd quarter grades/service hours November 2017 through January 2018

    Spring 2018 

    3rd quarter grades/service hours from February through March 2018.

    Freshmen will not be eligible for Spring/Summer 2017 as it is based on grades from last year's 4th 9 weeks.  Freshmen are encouraged to submit applications for the other quarters.

    Please make sure that your quarterly applications are filled out completely.  This includes the ENTIRE first page, the volunteer information on the second page with a signature from the person in charge of the service project and a copy of your report card.  IF THE FORM IS NOT COMPLETE YOU WILL NOT QUALIFY FOR THE PRIZE.  All due dates are subject to change as per the ABC Committee.

    YMCA Camp Y-Noah has a variety of departments that could use assistance year round.  For more information please contact Heather Lavelle at 330-896-1964.

    We have a new committee in place and can use more volunteers.  
    There are volunteer opportunities 
    to help with quarterly prizes, fundraising 
    and the banquet at the end of the year.  
    Please consider 
    taking a few hours of 
    your time to help.



    The Academic Booster Club relies heavily on donations from the community and parents for funding the program.

    Why was Jackson High School Academic Booster Club started?

    Because you work very hard for your grades, we want to give you recognition for your efforts by rewarding  the qualifying students with prizes.

    How can I qualify for rewards? 

    Improve your GPA by .5 points from one grading period to the next (example:  2.3 GPA in the second grading period to a 2.8 GPA in the third grading period). --OR-- earn a 3.0 GPA or better for the nine-week period for which you are applying.

    Also, students must volunteer for at least eight (8) hours, each quarter, outside of school.

    What is considered "community service"?

    Any volunteer service performed for no payment for anyone other than family members or for a non-profit organization.  ABC reserves the right to review and authenticate any volunteer work.

    How does ABC confirm your volunteer work?

    Each grading period you will need to fill out a short form that asks what you did to volunteer, where you volunteered, the number of hours volunteered, the phone number of the place and a contact name.  This form will be available in the main office or can be printed from the link on this website.  It will be up to you to complete the form and return it to the office. ABC will use the information provided to contact the organization and verify the service, if we feel it is necessary.
