My Career and Family:
From the time I was a small child, I knew my career path was set in teaching. I wanted to be a teacher for the fact that my life's work would change the lives of others and over time I could see those students change the lives of others through their own work. To follow my dream, I enrolled and graduated from The University of Akron where I learned many new skills, made tons of new friends, and created memories along the way. I am currently enrolled at The University of Akron to obtain my Master's Degree in Instructional Technology. I am looking forward to utilizing the information and technology from my education in my classroom.
After graduation, I taught 5th grade Language Arts in the Highland Local School District. I enjoyed my first class for what they taught me and the memories we made. The next destination on my teaching journey was right here in Jackson Township where I have been a member of the Polar Bear community for six years. Working with the students, parents, and staff at the middle school has taught me the importance of being a well connected team.
When I am not at school, I am playing "mom" to my two beautiful babies and one fur-baby. I have a son named Connor and a daughter named Peyton. They are 15 months apart and keep my husband and me on our toes! We love to "take them on adventures" to the zoo, hiking, picnics, and most recently, the beach. Jameson is our big fur-baby who takes his job as "kid-protector" pretty seriously! He is a St. Bernard-Collie and we can't get over how patient and loving he is with our two little ones. My husband works with numbers, spreadsheets, and lots of math. Some might say we're total opposites, but trust me...in our world, opposites work best together!
My Hobbies:
Sports have always been a large part of my life. I played softball, volleyball, basketball (only for a year, it wasn't my "thing"), and threw shotput and discus on the track team while I was in school. I've coached volleyball for 10 years. I enjoy watching sporting events, especially the Cleveland Browns, Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Cleveland Indians. As you can tell, I am definitely a Cleveland fan! I'm still confident that the Browns will have a winning season (or a rebuilding season)!
Another hobby I have is traveling. When I was growing up, my family and I went camping all over The United States. I have traveled to 46 states! Over the summer, I did a large amount of traveling, from visiting Nashville, Tennessee for the Country Music Festival with my family, sightseeing in Chicago and Savannah with my husband, touring the monuments and museums in Washington D.C., relaxing on the beach in St. Pete, Florida, riding roller coasters at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Virginia, and canoeing on the Mohican River with my friends.
I am an avid reader, but I find that I enjoy all kinds of novels. I love to do crafts from Pinterest because there are so many creative ideas from all over the world at the tap of a finger! Lastly, I love spending time with my husband, family, friends, and our puppy, Jameson who is a St. Bernard/Collie mix. I have two children, Connor is two and Peyton is one. They keep us pretty busy!
In closing, I am excited to start another school year and meet the students who will one day make a difference in the lives of others!
