Welcome 7th and 8th graders!
Welcome to Jackson Memorial Middle School

This year we are excited about using technology for learning the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). We will be using a great technology platform called Polaris. Polaris is organized, so all students know where to go if they need another copy of a document, need to check a due date, or if they want to review a video or tutorial that was reviewed in class. Please feel free to contact your student's classroom teacher if you have any questions about Polaris and how it is used to enhance learning at JMMS. Polaris will be used during reading, writing, fluency, and comprehension remediation in roon 260.
Assignments and resources can be found in each student's Polaris Course, and the materials can be accessed anywhere there is an internet connection.
Here is a list of some of the exciting choice books for our 8th graders in 2018-19. 7th grade students will be choosing novels that are interesting to each student and that meet requirements set forth by their Language Arts teacher. I am available to assist students in picking out choice books that may be a fit as well. For more choices, please feel free to email me. Happy Reading!
Students have learned how to add the "Read and Write for Google" extension along with other educational extensions to the chrome browser. Please refer to the lefthand side of this site, for installation directions. This tool will allow for students to listen to text aloud, and to mark up text to assist with comprehension.
You can contact me via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or reach me by phone at (330) 830-8034 ext. 3560.
Each 7th and 8th grade teacher has a website that is updated frequently, please be sure to check those websites for videos or flipped classroom lessons as well.
