8^th Grade ART

MR. POETTER

Be Creative, Be fearless, Be Open

WELCOME to 8^th grade Art Class! The idea for this class is to encourage, push, and accomplish creativity and development within the elements of ART and DESIGN. This is going to be an environment where students will feel safe and free to explore with their inner creativity, ideas, and passion.

Objectives:

During this 12 week ART course, we will.......

• Demonstrate increased technical skill and craftsmanship to design and create pieces of art.

• Explain and defend our artistic decisions using visual art vocabulary.

Rules:

• MUST show up to class on time.

• Come to class prepared with ALL of your supplies.

• Treat others the way you would like to be treated.

• DO NOT talk while Mr. Poetter, or another student is talking.

• Keep hands and feet to yourself.

• DO NOT touch other students ARTWORK.

• DO NOT touch equipment or materials without Mr. Poetter's permission.

Consequences:

• Verbal Warning

• Written Warning

• Lunch Detention and/or call home

• After School Detention

• Office Referral

Grading:

• The grading scale follows the Jackson School District's

  • Product Grades are 80%

  • Process Grades are 20%

Product Grades are grades such as: Projects

Process Grades are grades such as: Sketchbook Assignment and Worksheets

* Students are subject to lose ONE POINT each day the assignment is late.

NO HOMEWORK UNLESS:

• Exercises and worksheets are not completed during adequate class time.

• Student gets behind on their Projects (days absent, snow days, etc.)

*** ALL projects are expected to be done in class.

Materials: All materials are supplied to students and can be checked out if a student gets behind with his/her ARTWORK.
