Hello Students and Parents!
My name is Tonya Gillette and I will be serving as the JMMS counselor for 6th grade students with last names that begin with Grb through Oi, and 7th and 8th grade students with last names that begin with Grj - Pan. The 2021-2022 school year will mark the beginning of my 20th year with Jackson Local Schools. I’ve had the privilege of being a counselor in the Student Services Office at Jackson High School for 15 of those years, during nine of which, I served as the department chair. I have a great deal of experience in assisting students achieve their academic, post-secondary, social and personal goals. I was thrilled to join the staff at Jackson Memorial Middle School in 2017, and I am excited to continue to work with the amazing staff and students at JMMS. I love working with the children in Jackson, and I value each individual student. Jackson truly is a wonderful place for students to grow and learn!
I earned my Bachelor’s Degree from Kent State University and began my career in Canton City Schools as a special education teacher. I began working as a school counselor at Jackson immediately after graduating from The University of Akron in 2002 with a Master’s Degree in School Counseling (K-12). My husband, Matt, is an English teacher at Jackson High School and our children Anna (13) and Henry (11) attend Jackson Memorial Middle School.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.
