All About Mrs. Shaffer
I was born and raised in Massillon, Ohio. I went to St. Barbara School K-8, then graduated high school from Washington High (Massillon) in 2003. I graduated from Kent State University in 2007 with a degree in Early Childhood Education. In 2011, I graduated from Ashland University with my Master's Degree in Education. It's hard to believe that this will be my 11th year teaching first grade at Sauder. The years have flown by! Each year has brought new lessons, experiences and challenges, and it has been amazing to watch each child learn and grow so much in the short time we are together.
My husband Mike and I were married in July of 2012. We now have 4 1/2-year-old daughter, Emma, and a 3-year-old son, Micah. After considering my students my "kids" for so many years, I thought I knew the love I would feel for my own. Boy was I wrong! Emma and Micah have completely changed our world. It is such an indescribable love that we feel for them both and I really feel it has changed my approach to teaching and loving my Sauder "kids".
I can't forget to mention our first "child", our 6-year-old English Mastiff, Maximus. We are quite obsessed with him! He weighs in at almost 200 pounds - of pure love! He is the most gentle, peaceful, and sensitive dog I have ever known and I couldn't imagine our family without him.
