Welcome to First Grade!

  • Get ready for an exciting year! Your first grader will learn and grow in leaps and bounds this year. Reading and writing is such a big part of what we will be learning together, and you will be AMAZED at what your child can do at the end of this year. I feel that parents and teachers are partners in their child's education, and I look forward to working together to help your child be the best they can be!
    All About Mrs. Shaffer
I was born and raised in Massillon, Ohio. I went to St. Barbara School K-8, then graduated high school from Washington High (Massillon) in 2003. I graduated from Kent State University in 2007 with a degree in Early Childhood Education. In 2011, I graduated from Ashland University with my Master's Degree in Education. It's hard to believe that this will be my 13th year teaching first grade at Sauder. The years have flown by! Each year has brought new lessons, experiences and challenges, and it has been amazing to watch each child learn and grow so much in the short time we are together.
My husband Mike and I have been married for 8 years. We have 6 1/2-year-old daughter, Emma, and a 5-year-old son, Micah. We love to play games, watch movies, and play outside together!
