Voters in the Jackson Local School District elected Lia Jones to the Board of Education. Jones will replace longtime board member Kenneth Douglas, who chose not to run for re-election after serving the district for 17 years.
Jones lives in Jackson Township with her husband, Caleb, and their young daughter Elle.
She graduated from Denison University with a bachelor of arts degree in communication. She earned her juris doctor from the University of Akron School of Law. Jones is the director of the Center for Gift and Estate Planning at the University of Akron.
In addition to her work on the JLSD Board of Education, Jones is a member of Akron Symphony Board of Directors. She was the 2018 recipient of the 30 for the Future Award, presented by the Greater Akron Chamber.
Jones was re-elected along with current board members Thomas Winkhart and Tonya Wright.
