Our society bacame more humane and progressive when Civil Rights movement carved out protection and equal treatment to different races and nationalities. It continues to grow today, as our courts enact laws that maked us treat each other like we're all equal.
The first two laws affecting immigrant and their children's education were Lau vs Nichols and Plyler v Doe. Because of these two laws, today our society is more tolerant, diverse, and compassionate.

Lau vs Nichols
This law requires that schools provide support to students who speak little or no English -
Plyler vs Doe
This law prohibits public schools from denying equal access to education services to students whose parents are undocumented
