Rules
In Our Classroom...
I will be kind with my words, feet, and hands.
I will listen with my ears and eyes.
I will raise my hand before speaking.
I will always do my best.
Your children helped create our list of class rules during the first week of school and we have practiced them often so they are familiar with our class expectations.
What is a Bucket Filler???
The idea of Bucket Fillers is based on the book "Have You Filled A Bucket Today? (A Guide to Daily Happiness For Kids)" by Carol McCloud.
The premise of the book is this...
We all carry an invisible bucket that contains our feelings. When our bucket is full, we feel great. When our bucket is empty, we feel sad. A bucket filler is someone who says or does nice things for other people. By doing this, they are filling other people's buckets and filling their own bucket at the same time.
On the other hand, a bucket dipper says or does things to cause other people to feel bad. A bucket dipper empties their bucket when they say and do mean things.
In our classroom, we have a silver bucket for students to drop a bucket filler form. At the end of each day, we read the forms from the bucket.
Behavior Plan
In order for all students in our room to have the best possible learning experience, I have developed a new behavior plan. It clearly outlines our rules as well as positive rewards for good behavior and the consequences for poor behavior choices. This plan will allow me to guide your children in making good decisions about their behavior. My goal is to for all students to experience a positive educational climate and extraordinary academic growth. I know you share my goal and I look forward to a successful school year.
This year in 1st grade we will be earning GOLD TAGS! Gold tags will be given to students who are being kind, safe, and responsible at school. Students who make an unexpected choice that goes against our class rules will lose a gold tag.
On Fridays, we will celebrate our earnings by having FUN FRIDAY! There will be a free time at the end of the day with fun activities to choose from. Students who earned the most gold tags will have first pick on the activity they would like to participate in.
Students will earn a certificate each week detailing the amount of gold tags they earned and if there are any behavior concerns or behavior goals to work on.
The first grade team would like to thank you for your support in helping make this behavior system successful! We are excited to spend time with kind, safe, and responsible first graders this year!
