Weekly Homework

  • HOMEWORK

I believe homework is a valuable aid in helping students make the most of their experience in school.  Homework assignments are meant to be an extension of classroom skills and goals and provide extra practice and support.  The second grade classrooms try to stick to a regular homework schedule so you know what to expect each week when helping your child.  The homework schedule may be changed at times, but you will find any changes noted on the back of my classroom newsletter.    The homework schedule will look something like this:

Monday - Fundations Homework and Math Homework

Tuesday - "CAFE" Homework (Reading) and Math Homework

Wednesday - Fundations Homework and Math Homework

Thursday - Fluency/Poetry Homework and Math Homework

    Friday - usually no homework!

Some assignments may be challenging, especially some of the Fundations homework assignments, but they still need to be completed.  Please encourage your child to try, remember what they learned in class, and to give it their best effort.  When I check homework, I will be able to see which students need a little extra support or skills that need revisited.

Please check and sign homework each night when completed.

If the homework is not returned when it is due, the following steps will be followed:

1st missed assignment = No Worries!

    2nd missed assignment = Warning

3rd missed assignment = Homework Notice will be sent home

*(Homework Notice must be signed by a parent and returned the next day, or 5 minutes of recess detention will be owed).*

4th missed assignment = 10 Minutes of Recess Detention

5th missed assignment = Recess Detention (entire recess and parents will likely be contacted)
