Let’s start off with a little FYI:-My full name is: Natalie Marie Roarty
-Birth date: August 24, 1977-I was born in Clinton, Ohio and attended NorthwestLocal Schools through 6th grade. I then moved to Green and attended Green Local Schools through graduation.-I was a competition tap and jazz dancer until I was 19years old.-I was a Green High School football and basketball cheerleader for four years.
I attended Green Local Schools and graduated in June 1996. That fall, I began my first semester at the University of Akron. I graduated with my BA degree in Elementary Education on December 16, 2000. I went right back and earned my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education on December 13, 2003. Since then, I have received a Gifted endorsement from Malone University in December 2017.
Other Jobs I’ve had:
Before I was a teacher, I worked at my family’s restaurant, Menches Brothers, in Green from 1992- 2003. I started as a busser and then became a waitress/hostess. Since it was my parent’s restaurant, I also got an added bonus- any time someone called off I got to fill in. I enjoyed working at Menches Brothers very much. In fact, I continued to waitress for three years after being hired as a Jackson teacher (only during the summer though).
During my college years, I coached Green Youth Football Junior Varsity Cheerleading for 2 years with a very good friend of mine. That was so much fun! I continued to coach while I was student teaching at Jackson’s Sauder Elementary. Only then I coached Jackson’s freshmen football/ basketball cheerleaders. That would be my last year of coaching cheerleading.
Once I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in December of 2000, Green Local Schools hired me in January of 2001. I was hired part- time as a kindergarten aide at Greenwood Elementary. I worked there for the remainder of the school year. Happily, I didn’t need to return the next fall, because I was hired into the Jackson Local School District in July of 2001 as a Lake Cable second grade teacher.
After teaching my first year at Lake Cable, Strausser Elementary was ready to open. I was then moved to Strausser where I taught first grade for one year, and then kindergarten for two years. I returned to Lake Cable to teach second grade in 2005. I taught second grade from 2005 - 2011. After that, I taught Kindergarten at Lake Cable from 2011-2013. I was then asked to loop with my 2012-2013 kindergarten class and go to first grade with them as their teacher. That was such a wonderful experience for me. That class will always have a special place in my heart. After that, I was asked to teach third grade for the 2014-2015 school year. I loved it and am currently still teaching third grade.
My husband and I were married May 18, 2002 (during my first year of teaching, so I started off teaching as Miss Menches). My husband is a firefighter/paramedic in Cuyahoga Falls. We bought our first home in August 2004 in Akron where we lived for nearly 9 years. In April of 2014 we moved back to our hometown of Green. We have two sons. Sean was born on January 13, 2005 and Connor was born on September 27, 2006. Our family dog is a chocolate lab named Dela. She was born April 17, 2015. We drove to Delaware to bring her home, which is how she got her name.
I love pictures!!!! I love nothing more than to sit down with my children’s pictures and put them into scrapbooks. I absolutely love to make scrapbooks. I should hold stock in the Creative Memories company as well as Shutterfly.
Before my children were born, I would read like crazy. Now that they're getting older I have been trying to get back into reading for fun. The only problem is that now I fall asleep too easily :-(
Currently my hobby is continuing to decorate our "new to us" home.
Other Favorites:-My favorite colors: red, blue, pink, and dark purple-My favorite place to eat: Menches Brothers of course(I also love Carrabbas, Outback, and Olive Garden though.)-My favorite vacation: Walt Disney World!!!!! My family and I are pretty Disney crazy.-My favorite sound: My children’s voices and laughs. My children can melt my heart in an instant. The more they grow, the more fierce my love for them grows. My boysare my life.
