July 6, 2020 Letter from Superintendent DiLoreto
Dear Jackson Local School District Families,
The Jackson Local School District is in the process of evaluating guidance from the state of Ohio to Restart Jackson for the 2020-21 school year. These guidelines were released by Gov. Mike DeWine and the Ohio Department of Education on Thursday. We will take this guidance and blend it with the feedback we have received via our survey of our parents, students, and staff of which more than 5,000 have responded.
We appreciate the work of the governor’s task force on this important matter and we agree local decision making for our schools is in the best interest of our community. Please allow us the time to take the recommendations from the state and the results of the survey to devise the best models for our Jackson Local students and staff.
We will continue to work with the Stark County Health Department, Ohio Department of Health, and the Ohio Department of Education to develop models by which we restart the coming school year. We always will keep the safety of our students and staff at the forefront of our decision-making process.
We appreciate all who participated in our survey. We will be asking for one more quick survey in the coming days that will help us fine-tune our models for the 2020-21 school year.
Our administrative team has been working on plans for more than two months to Restart Jackson. We will be communicating more information throughout the summer, and we will maintain robust communications with our families during the school year. All of our communications will remain on our Restart Jackson Resource Center page of our website, found here.
We appreciate your continued partnership in educating your child(ren) and your support of the Jackson Local School District.
