Jackson Local’s Junior Achievement Team Makes History with Global Win
Jackson Local School District’s Junior Achievement team, FlameGuard, has made history by becoming the first-ever JA USA team to win the De La Vega Global Competition, an international contest featuring the top student-run businesses from around the world. Competing against elite teams, FlameGuard showcased their business expertise, innovation, and teamwork, securing the top prize.
The team—Justin Lackey, Matt Smith, Joe Lattarulo, Zach Ferguson, and Jack Lancy—has now earned approximately $37,000 in competition winnings, including the $15,000 grand prize from the De La Vega Global Competition. Their success highlights the real-world learning and entrepreneurial experience that Jackson Local students gain through the Junior Achievement program.
This isn’t just about winning a competition. It’s about equipping students with the hands-on business experience and leadership skills they need for the future.
FlameGuard’s accomplishment reflects the dedication of students, teachers, and the broader Jackson Local community, whose support helps create life-changing learning opportunities.
Jackson Local School District congratulates the FlameGuard team on this incredible achievement and celebrates their place in Junior Achievement history.
