Jackson High School improved to No. 35 in Ohio in the latest US News & World Report rankings of high schools. Jackson was ranked No. 40 last year and moved up five spots, a 12.5% improvement from last year. Jackson is ranked 4% of Ohio’s 874 ranked high schools. US News & World Report ranked JHS No. 983 in its national rankings, putting Jackson High School among the top 5.5% of the nearly 18,000 schools ranked in the nation. Jackson received an overall score of 94.49 out of 100.

In addition to the US News & World national rankings, Jackson was recently ranked as the No. 1 district in Ohio based on rankings conducted by backgroundchecks.org. Niche.com ranked Jackson Local Schools No. 3 in Ohio for student-athletes and No. 43 out of 608 Ohio school districts.

“We are certainly appreciative of the national and state recognition the US News & World Report rankings bring,” Jackson Local Superintendent Chris DiLoreto said. “This is acknowledgment of the work done on a daily basis by our faculty and staff in preparing our students for life beyond Jackson High School through college enrollment, service enlistment, or employment. Our teachers have done tremendous work educating our students through a global pandemic and we are fortunate to collaborate with our families every day in the Jackson Local School District.”

US News & World Report works with RTI International, a global research firm, to compute the rankings. The rankings are based on six indicators: college readiness, college curriculum breadth, state assessment proficiency, state assessment performance, underserved student performance, and graduation rate. All of the data collected comes from official third-part sources and none directly from the schools.
