All Jackson Local buildings designated Purple Star schools
The Jackson Local School District is proud to announce all six school buildings have become Purple Star designated buildings. This designation is an indication the schools are military-friendly buildings, showing a major commitment to connecting students and families with our military. The Purple Star Advisory Board, formed by the Ohio Department of Education, Higher Education, Veterans Services, and Adjutant General, made the decision this week.
The board designated the following Jackson Local School District buildings as Purple Star:
Jackson Memorial Middle School
Lake Cable Elementary
Those five buildings join Jackson High School, which remains a Purple Star building after being designated in 2019.
“It is a great honor to receive this designation from the Purple Star Advisory Board,” Jackson Local School District Superintendent Chris DiLoreto said. “Maintaining a strong relationship with, and showing honor and respect for, our veterans builds upon the foundation in our district to educate our students on the importance of our nation’s military. The Jackson Local School District recognizes the reverence our community traditionally has shown our veterans. We are grateful for this recognition, and the commitment our buildings and administrative team have for this district and community accomplishment.”
In order to be considered for Purple Star designation, a representative must complete an application for each building outlining several activities illustrating how the building supports military families.
