The vacancy became effective September 12 following the resignation of board member Tonya Wright, who moved outside the district.

“The Board was impressed by the quality of the applicants and their genuine interest in serving Jackson Local Schools,” Board President Lia Jones said. “The willingness of so many qualified community members to serve is reflective of the strong support our district receives from the Jackson community.”

Hite brings more than 20 years of marketing and sales experience with Fortune 500 companies: Procter & Gamble, the Kellogg Company, and The J.M. Smucker Co. Prior to his current role as director of marketing and sales operations for Away from Home at Smucker, Hite spent five years as vice president, marketing and retail sales at Fresh Mark / Sugardale.

“The Board is pleased to welcome Robert Hite,” Jones said. “We believe his experience and perspective will complement the collective strengths of our Board and contribute to our work as the district’s governance team. We appreciate Mr. Hite’s willingness to serve our students, staff, families, and community.”

Under Ohio law, Hite will serve through December 31, 2027. The seat will appear on the November 2, 2027, ballot for the remainder of the term, which concludes December 31, 2029.

Hite and his wife, Melissa, are the parents of Alexander, Colin, and J.J., all Jackson Local students. Hite is a former board of the Jackson Football Association and the Jackson Youth Basketball Association.
