All Jackson Local Schools Earn Purple Star Renewal for Support of Military Families

Jackson Local School District is proud to share that Amherst Elementary, Lake Cable Elementary, Sauder Elementary, Strausser Elementary, and Jackson Memorial Middle School have all been renewed as Purple Star Schools by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce. That means all six of our school buildings still hold Purple Star designation — a distinction that reflects our district’s strong commitment to military-connected students and families. Jackson High School was previously renewed.

This honor matters because it represents more than a designation. It reflects the care, respect, and support our schools work to provide every day. It also gives our students meaningful opportunities to learn about service, sacrifice, and the importance of honoring those who have given so much for our country.

One of the most meaningful examples is our military family breakfast, where we have the chance to thank military-connected families and show how much they mean to our Jackson community. This year, we also celebrated the completion of our Honor Wall at Jackson High School, which recognizes Jackson graduates who have served in the military since 1931.

Having all six schools designated as Purple Star Schools is something our entire community can be proud of.
