My name is Mrs. Suzanne Walters and I have been teaching music in the public schools for 30 years. I taught elementary music for three years in the Canton City Schools beginning in 1989, moving to Jackson Schools in 1992 to teach middle school choir and general music, and assist with the high school choirs. In 1998, I began teaching elementary music at Sauder, and moved to Strausser when it opened in 2002. After spending the last 17 years at Strausser, I have moved to Amherst Elementary School and am looking forward to working with all of the wonderful students at Amherst!
In addition to teaching music and directing the choir at Strausser, I direct the Cleveland Orchestra Children's Preparatory Chorus, and the Praise Team for our church.
My husband and I have three children - a daughter who lives in North Carolina; a son who attends the University of Akron; and a son who attends our Jackson High School. We all love music, traveling, and spending time together. We also have a 7-year-old Golden Retriever named Shiloh.
I absolutely love teaching children through music and moving them from where they are to as far as they can go, and I am so excited to be teaching at Amherst! We are going to have a fantastic year!
